This income component represents funds which:

• are paid regularly (weekly/monthly/yearly etc)
• are assumed to be subject to tax
• may increase over time to keep pace with any inflation*

It is called Salary because typically it will be associated with income earned from employment, but could also be drawn from other sources such as trust fund distributions, or annuities.
