Promoting a category

Promoting means placing the category at the next level up in the budget category tree. If the category is already at the first level - just below the Total - then no change takes place.

Here is an example of a category promotion:

Initially Newspapers/Journals is at the same level as Films, Music, Concerts and Theater; after the change it has moved up to the same level as Entertainment.

Demoting a category

Demoting means making the current category a sub-category of the category immediately above it in the budget tree. If the current category is the first sub-category to its 'parent' then no change occurs.

To move the current category up one place in the budget tree click the Move Higher button:
